A little guide to make your planning easier.

reating meaningful, legally compliant wedding ceremonies in Melbourne — from intimate legals-only registrations to beautifully personalised celebrations.

We recommend that couples make their booking as early as possible to secure their preferred wedding date, particularly during peak wedding periods. Subject to availability, bookings may also be accepted a minimum of one month prior to the intended ceremony date, in order to allow sufficient time for the lodgement and processing of the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM), in accordance with Australian marriage legislation.

Many celebrants in Melbourne offer bilingual services (e.g., English + Mandarin), ensuring your ceremony is meaningful and understood by all your guests. You can confirm language support when booking.

Only a Commonwealth-registered celebrant can legally solemnise your marriage. If someone performs a ceremony without registration, your marriage may be declared invalid, even if it looked official at the time. Always check their registration before booking.

We have both male and female celebrants.

When booking a celebrant, ask about:

  • Their style and whether it matches your vision

  • Experience and number of weddings performed

  • Whether you can review the ceremony script beforehand

  • What is included in their fee (meetings, rehearsals, travel, etc.)
These questions help ensure you choose someone who fits your personality and expectations.

Our team coordinates vendors, timeline, and every detail so the day runs smoothly.

Absolutely. Every service is tailored to your style, needs, and budget.

Simply reach out to us via our contact form or email. We’ll schedule a consultation to discuss your dream wedding celebrant and how we can bring it to life.

A marriage celebrant is an authorised person under Australian law who can legally solemnise your wedding ceremony at any venue you choose. They assist with all paperwork, ensure legal compliance, help craft personalised ceremonies, and guide you through the process from start to finish.

Yes. Couples must complete and lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with a celebrant at least one month before the ceremony date. This form confirms your intention to marry and starts the legal timeline required under Australian law.

Absolutely. Unlike registry offices, an authorised celebrant can conduct your ceremony in parks, beaches, gardens, private properties, or venues of your choice as long as all legal requirements are met.

To legally marry in Australia, there are several key requirements couples should be aware of:

(1) Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)
Couples must lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with an authorised marriage celebrant at least one month before the intended wedding date.

The NOIM is valid for 18 months.
Once the celebrant has received the NOIM and the one-month notice period has passed, the marriage may be solemnised at any time within the 18-month validity period.

(2) Witness requirements
On the wedding day, two witnesses aged 18 years or over are required to be present and must sign the legal marriage documents.

For further requirements such as identity documents, prior marriage evidence, or special circumstances, couples are advised to consult directly with their marriage celebrant.

Yes. In certain circumstances, couples may apply for a Shortening of Time.
Approval is subject to meeting specific legal criteria under Australian marriage legislation.

Applications may be considered under the following circumstances:

Employment or travel commitments
Where work or significant travel arrangements prevent one party from being present after the one-month period.

Wedding or celebration arrangements
Where binding wedding, celebration, or religious arrangements have already been made.

Medical reasons
Where a party to the marriage, or someone involved in the wedding, is suffering from a serious medical condition.

Legal proceedings
Where one party is involved in legal proceedings that necessitate the marriage taking place earlier.

Celebrant error
Where the required notice was not given in time due solely to an error by an authorised celebrant, and wedding arrangements have already been made within the one-month period.

Eligibility, required documentation, and application procedures depend on individual circumstances and should be assessed by your marriage celebrant.

In Australia, marriages may be solemnised by the following authorised persons:

Marriage Celebrants
Marriage celebrants can officiate weddings at locations chosen by the couple and offer both simple legal registration ceremonies and fully personalised wedding ceremonies.

Religious Celebrants
Suitable for couples with religious beliefs or those wishing to marry in a church or religious setting.

Registry-appointed Celebrants
For couples wishing to marry at a marriage registry office. The ceremony is conducted at a designated venue with a registry-appointed celebrant (e.g. Old Treasury Building in Melbourne).

Government Officers in Regional Areas
Available in certain remote or regional locations.

Under Section 112 of the Australian Marriage Act, the parties to the marriage and the two witnesses must clearly understand the legally binding words spoken during the ceremony.

A bilingual (English–Chinese) marriage celebrant ensures full legal understanding and compliance, while also allowing non-English-speaking parents and guests to fully engage with and appreciate the ceremony.

  • Many years of experience in TV hosting

  • Professional bilingual services in English and Chinese

  • Personalised ceremony and hosting content tailored to each couple

  • Integrated services (marriage ceremony + wedding reception hosting), ensuring a smoother wedding flow and reduced coordination stress for couples

However, couples may choose to hold a Commitment Ceremony (Vow Renewal Ceremony), which follows a wedding-style format but has no legal effect.

No.
China recognises legally valid Australian marriages, therefore couples cannot register marriage again in China.

To use an Australian marriage certificate in China or other countries as proof of marital status, the certificate must be formally authenticated.

Please note:
China does not currently recognise same-sex marriage. Therefore, same-sex marriages registered in Australia have no legal effect in China.

Authorised Australian marriage celebrants are legally permitted to solemnise marriages anywhere in Australia.
However, due to travel and service considerations, services are currently offered within Melbourne and surrounding areas only.

If one party has previously been married, proof of divorce must be provided to the celebrant.

If the divorce certificate has been lost, a replacement copy may be obtained from the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Generally, only the full names and dates of birth of both parties are required.
The application fee is approximately AUD $30, and a PDF copy is usually issued via email within around 10 days.
